Born in Africa, I also learned of a deeper focus, of how to seek the tracks in the sands of the dawn before they are blown away by the breath of the wind, and to follow them into the secret lives of so many of the animals that share our planet, an immersive experience of tracking which brings us fully into the moment.

As an artist-naturalist I have learned the gift of focus, of how to observe and study the details of the world around me, and then, in the silence of the studio, to bring them to life through paintings, sculptures, and words

Many people do not have the time to encounter nature like this, so I was inspired with the vision to share Rosetta naturae, a metaphorical sculpture that speaks to these moments in nature. Accompanying the sculpture are fifty-two artworks and their creative thought journeys as an invitation to an unfolding experience of engaging with nature through the seasons, footsteps along your own trail into the natural world, and a chance to celebrate the wonder and beauty of this extraordinary planet.

My time in nature has also shown me that, when we reconnect with nature, there is an inner calming shift as we reconnect with our quieter true selves. This is an opportunity to remember the gentle kindness and joy which is hidden behind our human world of too much noise, and a time to reflect on our lives, our deeper values and purpose. These aspect of ourselves are the pathways to lives of lasting joy, meaning and connection for they are a pathway home to our true selves

It is the tracks that I follow into the light of the dawn that invite me into this landscape of belonging, for in them I see my own journey through life and my search for place. And in this silent moment I begin to awaken to the inner knowing that this is where my soul senses home and where my spirit finds the space to roam.

And in the strangest way, it is here that I begin to understand what it means to be human
