Noel Consults for German Television
2008-10-08
A new two-part series for German television is being filmed in Cape Town around the story of a whale researcher who is also a sculptor. Noel was approached to get involved with this project in a consulting capacity, as five 12m southern right whale casts needed to be created for a stranding scene. This process involved using the latest 3-D digital technology to generate the original shape, which was then scaled up and moulded to size for production. |

2008 is turning out to be a busy year.

As we get closer to the whales’ return from Antarctic waters, we are preparing for another season of research and time spent with the whales at the edge of the sea. I am proud to announce the release of the 2008 limited edition bronze which you can read about below. We are also very pleased that the Whale Show has attracted so much attention and positive response and will continue to be shown three-times daily in the Hermanus Whale Museum. The museum has also recently installed its new displays and we are very proud to have supplied the paintings and illustrations for these exhibits. My primary focus this year has been the Sacred Ocean sculpture and campaign which will be launched during the whale season in the foyer of the Two Oceans Aquarium, where it will go on permanent display. SPECIAL CONSERVATION BRONZE
2008-05-30
ON THE BRINK – NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALE
Here’s a special opportunity to own a beautiful sculpture and contribute to a vital cause. Noel Ashton has joined forces with well-known zoologist Mark Carwardine to launch an exciting conservation initiative. All profits from each of Noel’s bronze whales sold will go towards helping endangered cetaceans – from the blue whale to the smallest porpoise, the vaquita, which are on the brink of extinction.
We’ve chosen the North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis) as our iconic cetacean, because it's one of the world’s most endangered whales with a population of 350. Only 350 numbered bronzes of a mother and calf will be cast, each symbolically representing an individual North Atlantic right whale. Each bronze is sold with a certificate of authenticity that includes the name and research number of an individual right whale.
Medium | Patina bronze with marble base
Dimension | 280mm (h) 240mm (w) 160mm (d)
Price | £2,000.00 (all profits will be donated to whale conservation)
To secure one of these 350 conservation bronzes, please contact Rachel Ashton at the Wildlife Art Company in Bristol, UK.
